The Junior section is a thriving part of the club with over 60 members (spilt 50/50 between the Academy and full Junior members). We are fortunate to have a good number of girls, several having achieved playing handicaps and one having played for the County. Betchworth Park Golf Club has adopted the ‘Children in Golf’ Child Protection Policies and Procedures which incorporate recommendations and standards as proposed by both the English Golf Union and the English Women's Golf Association.
The Junior Section, which is only for members, is divided into 2 Categories.
Category 1 Junior Academy: will be for Juniors who have limited or no experience of playing golf. Ideally they will be aged between 8 -12 years old. Group coaching is provided on most weekends through the year (approx. 48 weeks but dependant on weather). Sessions last 1 hour. Junior Academy Members are not allowed to play on the course even if accompanied by an adult. Sessions are currently at either 9am or 1pm each Saturday.
Category 2 Junior Member: is for Juniors who either:
Already hold a playing handicap or have been promoted from the Junior Academy. Access to the course is dependent on playing standard and handicap. The better a player becomes, the more playing rights they have but all Junior Members will be able to get plenty of time to play and improve their game. There are competitions in all school holidays for the juniors to compete and play in to also help improve their games
The club’s Match and Handicap Committee have agreed that:
Juniors with a handicap of 12 or less can play on the course at any time
Juniors with a handicap of 13-28 can play on the course on weekend and Bank Holiday mornings provided they are accompanied by an adult member, otherwise after 12:30pm.
Juniors with handicaps of 29+ or without a handicap, can play on the course after 2:30pm.
Holders of the Junior GolfMark Award; Approved by England Golf.
